Rockdale City have pulled off a coup, announcing the signing of former Asian Champions League winning goalkeeper Ante Covic.
The 41-year-old, who went to the 2006 World Cup as part of the Australia squad, has returned to Sydney after leaving A-League club Perth Glory.
Covic was named the AFC Champions League most valuable player in his time with Western Sydney Wanderers and also won an A-League championship with the Newcastle Jets.
Rockdale will host the Maso Cup at the Ilinden Sports Complex, Rockdale on January 27. It will be the first chance for the club’s fans to see Covic in action.
Meanwhile, Rockdale start their NSW NPL 1 season against newly promoted Sydney FC at Lambert Park on March 11.
Sutherland will host Manly United at Seymour Shaw Park, Miranda on the same night.
The Sharks host Rockdale in the first Leader Cup match of the season at Seymour Shaw on April 15. The return match at Ilinden is on July 2.
