Police are investigating after an alleged road rage incident involving Cronulla Sharks prop Andrew Fifita on Sunday afternoon.
Miranda police questioned Fifita after reports he allegedly punched and kicked a car that was driving behind him at Taren Point in Sydney’s south.
Acting Inspector Michael Stuart said police were told the 25-year-old allegedly threw an object at a Subaru travelling behind him on Captain Cook Bridge about 2.30pm.
A short time later both cars stopped and Fifita reportedly got out of a Jeep and made verbal threats before punching and kicking the panels of the Suburu being driven by a 23-year-old man.
“Both vehicles stopped on Taren Point Road. The 25-year-old allegedly made threats and punched and kicked the vehicle causing some damage to it,” Acting Inspector Stuart said.
Police said the alleged victim reported the incident to Miranda police and Fifita later came to the station to give a statement.
No arrest was made but police are considering charges.
“The matter is still under investigation,” he said.
Cronulla released a statement on Monday saying the club were made aware of the incident and that they had informed the NRL.
