Liverpool mayor Wendy Waller said the purpose of council's Thank You Gala Dinner was to acknowledge the "self-sacrifice, passion and heroism" of the volunteers that power local organisations to do the work they do every day.

This year's event raised more than $30,000 with this year's beneficiaries being the The Salvation Army in Liverpool and CNA Italian Australian Services.

"Behind the glitz and glamour of Council's Thank You Gala Dinner was a serious purpose: to give back," said Mayor Waller, who expressed her thanks to the attendees and businesses who supported the event .

"As a community, we are indebted to our local organisations who ensured no one was left behind during one of the most challenging periods in our city's history.

"Due to the unprecedented impact of the pandemic, our support has never been more needed.

"The funds raised will go a long way towards helping members in our community experiencing food insecurity, as well as our seniors and most vulnerable who require assistance."

Meanwhile, Liverpool and Penrith Councils, GLN Planning and IDC recently won the 2021 PIA NSW Award for Planning Excellence in the Strategic Planning Project category for Local Infrastructure Planning for the Aerotropolis.

Their main focus was ensuring infrastructure meets the needs of the new Aerotropolis city.

"The Western Sydney Aerotropolis is a once in a lifetime opportunity to transform the landscape of the Western Parkland City and provides a global opportunity for economic investment, to create a thriving aviation based business and residential community," Mayor Waller said.

"The scale, scope and importance of this area requires a planning approach not previously seen before.

"It is vitally important that a local infrastructure framework is in place early to ensure there is adequate consideration of infrastructure requirements, needs and costs and that there is a clear plan to align infrastructure delivery with future development."
