The latest outbreak of COVID-19 in Victoria is unsettling. It shows that the virus has not gone away and could break out anywhere across the country.

Despite the Prime Minister's recent comments, it IS a race - a race to stop another lockdown by establishing purpose-built quarantine facilities and fixing the vaccination rollout.

Hotels were built for tourists, not quarantine and quarantine is a Federal responsibility. Federal Labor has consistently called on the Morrison Government to implement a national quarantine system for the safety of returning citizens.

Every day that goes by without purpose-built quarantine leaves Australians facing more outbreaks and more lockdowns.

If a national quarantine system isn't implemented, the primary action we must take is getting vaccinated. We can't force the government to create national quarantine facilities, but we can get ourselves vaccinated.

Every week there are more vaccination clinics and general practitioners offering the vaccine and more people eligible to receive it.
