Liverpool pet owners can have their pet microchipped at no cost at council's Healthy Pet Day on Thursday, May 13 at Edwin Wheeler Reserve in Sadleir.
By law, all cats and dogs, other than exempt cats and dogs, must be microchipped by 12 weeks of age or before being sold or given away.
"Council knows the importance of microchipping and is offering this free service to assist Liverpool's pet owners," Liverpool mayor Wendy Waller said.
"If your companion animal is already microchipped, come along and check your contact details are up-to-date so if your pet is ever missing or lost they can be returned home sooner.
"Healthy Pet Day is also an opportunity for pet owners to ensure their cat or dog is up-to-date with vaccinations, so they don't fall ill."
Council's Healthy Pet Day is supported by the state government and sponsored by RSPCA NSW, Petbarn Foundation and Greencross Vets. It runs from 9am to 3pm.
- Due to high demand, free pet vaccinations are only available for pension or health care card holders. Bookings are essential. Residents must call 0429 080 132 to book their pet.
