Three arrested in relation to Fairfield public place shootings

Detectives have arrested three men as part of investigations into a series of public place shootings in Sydney's south west last year.

Fairfield City Police Area Command detectives established Strike Force Keane in September 2020 to investigate the circumstances surrounding a series of public place shootings in the local area.

Police say the incidents included shots fired at a Bonnyrigg home on Monday, August 31 2020, the shooting of a 19-year-old man at Cabramatta and shots fired at a St Johns Park home on Tuesday, September 1 2020, and shots fired at a Fairfield Heights home on Wednesday, September 2 2020.

As part of investigations, detectives say they also uncovered that the discharge of a firearm at a park at Canley Heights on Saturday, July 25 2020 and a verbal dispute the day before (Friday, July 24 2020), were also linked to the shootings, and the incidents were related to an ongoing conflict between two groups in the area.

Following extensive inquiries, Strike Force Keane detectives, assisted by South West Metropolitan Operations Support Group, executed four search warrants at Cabramatta, Canley Vale, Fairfield and St Johns Park from 7am today (Tuesday, April 20 2021).

Police say three men - aged 23, 29 and 33 - were arrested during the operation and taken to Fairfield Police Station, where they will be charged.
