The holiday period is fast approaching. The people of Werriwa have done an incredible job this year under trying circumstances, but we still have a way to go.

The Christmas New Year break is traditionally a time to catch up with friends and family. Whether it's at home, a local park or one of our many great restaurants or cafes, socialising in a big part of this time of year.

Despite COVID-19, with the proper precautions, we can still make this festive season as good as any we have had before.

At the time of writing, current restrictions allow up to 50 people to attend your residence if there is an outdoor area being utilised.

If you are planning to have a lunch or dinner in a public place the limit is also 50 people. Hospitality venues up to 200 square metres will be allowed to have on person per two square metres indoors.

The easing of restrictions will allow you to celebrate with your families, friends and colleagues over Christmas and New Year in a way they haven't been able to for the last 10 months.

However, we must not get complacent as the virus is still out in the community as the recent COVID Sewage Surveillance Program has revealed.

We have to make sure to adhere to the health and safety rules to keep the community safe during this vulnerable period.

I hope everyone has a fun and safe festive season.
