The Bachelorettes: Parkes sisters Elly and Becky Miles

Australia officially meet Parkes siblings Elly and Becky Miles last night when they debuted in a global first for the franchise, this year's Bachelorettes.

They've travelled down many roads together but never one quite like this - something the pair least expected.

And now that they are, they're both very excited and nervous to see how their quest for love plays out on national television.

"I never thought I'd bloody go on TV let alone Bec and I get to do this together!" Elly laughed.

"We thought our biggest adventure together would have been our Europe trip last year but it turns out that was just the first adventure.

"It's pretty incredible, it's going to be an amazing thing to look back on later in life and be like 'who would have ever thought the two of us would do something like this together?'."

"Just a couple of Parkes country chicks," Becky added.

Elly, 25, and Becky, 30, are the daughters of Alan and Nerida Miles and the granddaughters of Colleen and Eric Miles, all of Parkes.

They attended Parkes Public School and Parkes High School, with Elly transferring to Red Bend Catholic College in Year 10.

Elly, now a nurse, was a fan-favourite when she appeared in last year's The Bachelor with Matt Agnew and it's one of the reasons why she is the 2020 Bachelorette.

But how Becky - a defence contracting specialist who now lives in Newcastle, like her little sister - came into the picture, was a little unpredictable.

"I think when they were just doing some scouting and casting (for the show) they were on my Instagram and saw a few videos of Bec and I," Elly said.

"I did a surprise 30th sky-diving thing for Becky and they saw some of our travel videos in Europe, and I think they just liked the dynamic and thought 'you know what' this is a bit different, and this could be a really lovely, wholesome watch.

"I think also because we're just like normal girls, we're like the girls next door kind of thing."

"We're very close, we talk on the phone everyday, if not multiple times a day. We both know everything about each other," Becky added.

"There's no judgement, there's just a lot of love and support," she said.

When they met each eligible bachelor, the sisters agreed not to "jump the gun" and "dibs" guys too early.

"We both have to get to know them and they also have to get to know us, so we had a bit of a speech with the boys at the start [to tell them] we're not here to battle it out for guys, we love each other, we're here to support each other on this journey," Elly said.

"There were definitely sparks flying around."

And in a unique touch to the show, there will be what they have called a country rose, which is a little dedication to Parkes.

"We're from the country so whoever made the best first impression on Bec and I, we gave them a country rose, then they pick one of the guys to go on a double date with us [out in the country]," Elly said.

The Dish is also expected to make an appearance in the show as the girls tell their story about where they're from.

Becky never thought she would do anything like this, but after watching her sister last season, she found a little inspiration.

"Seeing Elly on Matt's season of The Bachelor, it's so possible to develop feelings for someone in this kind of environment and so for me that was so much reassurance that it's possible to find your person," she said.

"I'm at that point in time I want to find someone to settle down with and have a family with, and why not try and find someone in an unconventional way through The Bachelorette?

"I had to look at the positive side of things, it's a little bit daunting with the media and being on TV and everything, but it's funny how easily you get used to being in front of a camera and for me I'm just going to be myself and that's all you can really do at the end of the day.

"I'm just really proud of us because that's exactly what we did."

The girls said their parents' reaction to the news was a little different this time around, with Elly's appearance on The Bachelor coming as a bit of a shock to them at first.

"This time they actually weren't that shocked, they said 'as long as you girls are happy and Becky, as long as you're doing it for yourself and not because Elly's trying to convince you or something', which she wasn't," Becky said.

"They just want us to be happy at the end of the day."

The Bachelorette continues tonight at 7.30pm on Network 10.
