THE FAMILY of missing Bathurst woman Janine Vaughan are doing their own investigations into her 2001 disappearance and want to meet and talk with anyone who was at The Tavern in George Street on the night she disappeared.
Janine's sister, Kylie Spelde, and brother Adam Vaughan regularly come to Bathurst in NSW's Central Tablelands to meet with people who have information on the case, but are reluctant to come to the police, and their Facebook page "Help Find Janine Vaughan" now has close to 4,000 members.
The Facebook page is the main conduit between the family and the community, with hundreds of people coming forward.

Mrs Spelde said so far people have been amazing, and really willing to help them find the truth.
Searching for answers has been nothing short of a nightmare for the family; exactly what happened to Janine in the early hours of December 7, 2001 has been the subject of two police investigations, an inquest and a Police Integrity Commission hearing, yet her family still don't know the truth.
They want to hear from those who may have been at the Tavern in George Street the night Janine was there, including the staff, DJ and patrons. They'd also love to speak to anyone who may have spoken with Janine the day she disappeared.
Mrs Spelde said they are hoping these people "might be able to fill the gaps" for them.
"We would really like to speak with the DJ that was playing at the Tavern on the night and bar staff as well as any taxi drivers who were working that night," she said.
She said she also wanted to know which police were working in Bathurst, especially on December 7.
Mrs Spelde said people have been amazing, and more than willing to meet with them.
She said the Facebook page had been instrumental in connecting with people, and said she couldn't be happier with the contact and messages she had from people genuinely wanting to help the family find answers.
It's not the first time Janine's family have taken it upon themselves to investigate Janine's disappearance.
In 2012, frustrated by a lack of development in Janine's case, the family put an ad in the classifieds of the Western Advocate asking for help from the community.
Janine Vaughan was last seen around 4am on Friday, December 7, 2001 in Keppel Street, Bathurst, getting into a red, four-door medium size sedan similar to a Mitsubishi Magna or a Toyota Camry.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or contact the family via Janine's Facebook page.
