Third man charged over drug supply operation

Wetherill Park Region Enforcement Squad (RES) investigators have charged a 61-year old man as part of an ongoing investigation into the supply of prohibited drugs across Sydney.

The man was the third person charged after investigators arrested and charged two men, aged 35 and 65 last week. They remain before the courts.

In December 2019, officers from Wetherill Park RES established Strike Force Hama to investigate and target the supply of prohibited drugs across Sydney.

As part of ongoing investigations, Wetherill Park RES investigators arrested the 61-year-old man following a vehicle stop on Smart Street, Fairfield, about 2pm Thursday, May 21 2020.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers seized cocaine, about 63g of methylamphetamine (ice) and equipment consistent with the supply of prohibited drugs.

Investigators also seized more than $6000 cash located during a search of the man's clothing.

The Burren Junction man was taken to Fairfield Police Station and charged with supply prohibited drug (indictable quantity), deal with property proceeds of crime and possess prohibited drug.

Police will allege in court that the man was involved in the supply of prohibited drugs across NSW.

The man was refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today Friday, May 22, 2020).

Investigations under Strike Force Hama are continuing.
