A staff member from Ashcroft High School has returned a positive test for COVID-19.
NSW Health confirmed the school teacher attended school for one day while infectious, but did not teach classes. A small number of students and staff have been identified as close contacts and are being contacted by the Department of Education.
Principal Ted Noon said the school, which is located on Maxwells Avenue, is working closely with NSW Health to assist them to conduct their contact tracing process.
"We will contact any staff and students directly if they have been identified as a close contact of the person who returned a positive test," he said on Facebook.
"The Health and Safety of our students and staff is always of highest priority for us. The NSW Department of Education and NSW Health have and will continue to work closely to ensure that the health and safety of all students and staff is maintained.
"We will be keeping the school community informed on any developments."
As at 8pm on Saturday night, the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in NSW is 1791.
