The NRL has cancelled the 2020 Cabramatta Nines due to the extreme weather conditions forecast across Sydney tomorrow with temperatures expected to reach 42 degrees.

The 18th edition of the International Nines sponsored by Konami was scheduled to take place at New Era Stadium, with 34 sides set to take part in the modified rugby league tournament in both men's and women's competitions.

An NRL spokesperson said: "Whilst I'm sure it's disappointing for the many teams and players involved, our first and foremost priority will always be the health and safety of our participants."

The Cabramatta International Nines will return in 2021.
