Mayor Wendy Waller said Australia Day highlights the "multicultural fabric" of Liverpool.
Thousands joined in Liverpool's Australia Day celebrations at Woodward Park where people were treated to live entertainment, international cuisine, rides and games.
Attendees also helped council and its fundraising partner, the Rotary Club of Liverpool, to raise $23,000 for the NSW Rural Fire Service which will assist them to provide essential services during this summer's extreme bushfire season.
"Australia Day is special to so many, in particular the many migrants and refugees who have proudly come to call Liverpool home," Mayor Waller said.
"Liverpool is the face of multicultural Australia and our annual Australia Day event exemplifies our community spirit, as well as our success as a city in which people from all walks of life can live together peacefully.
"I wish to personally thank everyone who donated to our collection for the NSW Rural Fire Service and appreciate all who joined us to celebrate Australia Day."
