The Green Valley Public School aerobics team have jumped, kicked and danced their way to the Schoolaerobics national championships. The team of Monique Shah, Sophia Guidone, Angelina Salaberry, Laila Gadson, Zoe Sarris, Mikayla De Groot, Celina Cloke placed first in their division at the recent Schoolaerobics state finals at Chatswood earlier this month.
Their score of 79 was high enough to qualify for the national Schoolaerobics championships which will be held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on August 15 to 18.
The super seven had previously came first at the regional qualifiers in May with a score of 71.5.
The girls, who have been training since December, performed a high-energy aerobics routine, which included four compulsory aerobics moves: pushups, kicks, straddle sit and jumping jacks. They will perform the same routineto the song You're the One that I Want from the movie Grease at the nationals.
"We're so proud of the commitment and perseverance the team has shown. They deserve to be recognised for all their efforts. We can't wait to see how they go up in Queensland," said Aggie Pauk, who coaches the team with fellow teacher Melinda Zielonka.
Schoolaerobics is the largest inter-school Sportaerobic competition for primary and secondary school students in Australia.
