The nine-year-old then backed up to win a bronze medal in the national five synchronised trampoline event with Lucas Dawes from Altitude Gym Sports in Moorebank. The pair had only practised together twice in the lead-up to the event in Melbourne which concluded last week. "I felt very happy and I knew my mum was happy because she was crying," he said.

Kye's next major event is the National Clubs Carnival in September where last year he won gold in both individual trampoline and double mini trampoline events in his category and was equal eighth overall athlete at the carnival. This year the Hoxton Park Public School pupil - who trains 20-hours a week - might also be competing in the tumbling event.
