A young Liverpool police constable has been taken to hospital after being stabbed at Sadleir.

Just before 7am this morning, Tuesday, June 11, Liverpool police officers went to a home on Heckenberg Avenue in relation to a warrant.

A man allegedly confronted them before stabbing the male constable in the hand and slashing his neck.

The officer, 24, has been taken to Liverpool hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Two men were arrested at the scene and taken to Liverpool police station.

Inquiries are continuing.
