Well-heeled visitors to the Great Barrier Reef will be able to dive deeper than most divers can reach without getting wet in a month-long mini submarine promotion.
The one-hour rides in a three-person submersible will reach depths of up to 30 metres, but cost $3000 a trip.
State Tourism Industry Development Minister Kate Jones says the scUber marketing campaign could bring benefits to Queensland for the next three years.
"This is all about boosting international visitor numbers to Queensland," she said in a statement on Thursday.
"ScUber will hopefully inspire others to come and experience the reef's beauty."
Rideshare operator Uber has branched into the underwater world and will promote the rides to its North American and European customers and travel retailers, such as Flight Centre in the UK, will also sell seats on the submarine.
The joint Uber and Queensland government venture will begin its trial at Heron Island, off the coast of Gladstone, on Monday before moving north to Agincourt Reef off the coast of Port Douglas in North Queensland.
Ms Jones said the month-long campaign could generate an extra 1.4 million visitors and deliver an additional $1.8 billion to the region over the next three years.
