A woman has died in Liverpool hospital after she was attacked by her own dog at Wilton yesterday afternoon.

About 1.30pm yesterday, Thursday, May 16, emergency services were called to a home on Hornby Street following reports of a dog attack.

On arrival, officers found a man, 74, and his wife, 72, suffering lacerations and bite marks.

Both were treated at the scene and taken to Liverpool hospital where the condition of the woman deteriorated and she died.

The dog has been seized by Wollondilly council rangers.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Inquiries are continuing.
