POLICE | Weapons and drugs charges after searches including at Canley Vale, Wetherill Park

Two men have been charged with drugs and weapons offences after a vehicle stop sparked searches at CanleyVale, WetherillPark and FairfieldWest on Friday and Saturday.

On Friday about 8pm, Police Transport Command officers stopped a Toyota Yaris at Canley Vale.

They spoke to the driver, a man, 41, and during a search of the car, found a full-face respirator, methamphetamine and cash.

A second man, 34, approached officers and during a search of his Nissan Cube, officers seized methamphetamine, MDMA, cocaine, laser pointers, a flick knife and 9 kilos of caustic soda.

He was also searched and officers allegedly found cash and a credit-card knife.

Both men were arrested and taken to Fairfield police station.

Following further inquiries, officers searched a storage facility at Wetherill Park and a home on Palmerston Road at Fairfield West on Saturday.

Chemicals were seized at the storage facility and will be forensically examined.

At the home, officers seized three tasers, two firearms, ammunition, a baton, methyl-amphetamine, MDMA, GBL, heroin, cannabis, suboxone strips and other prescribed medications.

The older man was charged with supplying an indictable quantity of a prohibited drug and dealing with the proceeds of crime

He was in Parramatta bail court on Saturday and was granted conditional bail to be in Fairfield court on Monday week, May 20.

The younger man was charged with two counts of supplying an indictable quantity of a prohibited drug, dealing with the proceeds of crime, 2 x having a prohibited weapon and having a prohibited drug.

He was in Parramatta bail court on Saturday and was refused bail to be in Fairfield court this Wednesday, May 15.
