Sydney United 58 return to the winner's circle

A Peter Simonoski hat-trick has helped Sydney United 58 return to the winners' circle in a clinical 3-1 Easter Monday win against NPL 1 newcomers Mount Druitt at Sydney United Sports Centre.

After last week's 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Marconi, the Reds found some form in front of their home fans for their third win of the year to move them back into the top-five.

Former Wollongong Wolves sharpshooter Simonoski was the star of the show opening the scoring midway through the first half before giving the Edensor Park based side a 2-0 buffer at the interval.

His third goal stopped a mini Rangers revival to seal all three points.

"It was important we produced a good result after last week but realistically I would prefer to lose one game by five goals than five games by one," United coach Miro Vlastelica said.

"I'm pleased with the overall performance but we need to close teams out when we've got the lead and we'll obviously work on that."

Meanwhile, Marconi maintained their winning ways with a 3-1 win against the Sutherland Sharks at Marconi Stadium on Easter Saturday. Mitch Mallia, Mirjian Pavlovic and Brandon Vella netted for the home team to secure their third straight win and move them into third place.

"It is all clicking together currently," Stallions coach Peter Tsekenis said.

This Saturday (7pm), it's Marconi's turn to face Mt Druitt at Popondetta Park. At 1pm, United 58 play Sydney FC at Lambert Park.
