A woman in her 30s at EdmondsonPark was delighted to discover today what she thought was a scam was actually a $200,000 lotteries win.
She won the guaranteed first prize of $200,000 in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1275, drawn today, Friday, April 12.
The mother said she would use her money to pay for school fees, go on a beach holiday with her family and help her loved ones.
The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, bought her winning entry of two random numbers online at thelott.com.
When a NSW Lotteries official contacted her this afternoon to confirm the news, the happy mum admitted she initially thought her win was a scam.
"Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God! Thank you so much," she said with a scream. "I thought this was a scam!
"I called my husband after I checked my online account and he didn't believe it. He said it was a scam! I tried to convince him otherwise but he wouldn't believe me. I'm so glad it isn't!
"I can't even explain how much this means to me and how I feel right now. If you looked at me right now you'd see how big my smile is and how teary I am! I have butterflies! I'm shaking so much right now."
She said she'd bought the ticket on a whim. "I went onto the app last night and I saw the jackpot was huge so I just bought a ticket. It was a completely spur-of-the-moment decision.
"I never thought I'd win $200,000! I've won $15, $10 and other small prizes like this in the past but nothing ever as big as this one! It's a shock."
Asked how she planned to spend her prize, she it would greatly affect her young family's life.
"This will change our life. It will be such a help. I'll put some towards our mortgage, give some to my family and then we'll take our family on a beautiful holiday at the beach!
"I have a young family so we'll put some towards our kids' school fees, too."
