Senator Fraser Anning has defended his widely reviled comments about the New Zealand mosque massacres and reiterated his call for Australians to have more say on immigration.
The Queenslander also insists that slapping a boy across the face after the teen broke an egg on his head is an Australian thing to do, and that the boy's mum should have done it long ago.
The furore began after Senator Anning released a statement on the Christchurch mosque attacks in New Zealand on Friday.
He was widely condemned by Prime Minister Scott Morrison and other leaders for saying the "real cause of bloodshed on New Zealand streets today is the immigration program which allowed Muslim fanatics to migrate to New Zealand in the first place".
On Monday the senator said his statement had been taken out of context and reiterated his condemnation of the violence in New Zealand, which resulted in the deaths of 50 people attending prayers.
"Unfortunately, that sort of violence is already here, usually it's being perpetrated by the Muslims attacking the infidels or Christians," he then added.
The senator also said he acted in self defence when he struck the egg-wielding Melbourne teenager, now know on social media as 'Eggboy', during a press conference on Saturday.
"He got a slap across the face, which is what his mother should have given him long ago, because he's been misbehaving badly," he told reporters in Brisbane on Monday.
"When somebody cracks you in the back of your head, you react and defend yourself.
"That for years is what Australians have been doing, luckily they did that in the trenches otherwise we'd be all speaking German now."
Mr Morrison thinks Senator Anning should face the full force of the law over his actions.
Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton has urged voters to dump Senator Anning at the federal election due in May.
The government and Labor will move a censure motion - one of parliament's strongest forms of rebuke - condemning Senator Anning's comments when parliament returns next month.
"I hope it's not too painful," the senator said in response on Monday.
"What's Mr Morrison going to give me? A flogging with his lace hanky or something like that?"
Senator Anning replaced One Nation's disqualified Malcolm Roberts in 2017 then fell out with party leader Pauline Hanson and became an independent.
Senator Hanson says she'll abstain from any vote to censure Senator Anning because it won't "prove a damn thing".
Shadow attorney-general Mark Dreyfus says abstaining amounts to supporting Senator Anning's comments.
Labor will be preferencing One Nation and Senator Anning last at the upcoming election, he added.
Greens leader Richard Di Natale wants parliament to go harder and is exploring all options, including changing the Privileges Act to allow politicians to be expelled.
Australian Brenton Tarrant, 28, from Grafton in NSW, has been charged with one count of murder over the shooting in Christchurch.
