UPDATED: Man charged with murder after axe attack in Cabramatta West

Police have charged a man with murder after an axe attack at Cabramatta West.

About 8.45pm on Thursday, emergency services were called to Sydney Luker Road, after reports of a car crash and two men fighting.

It's alleged the driver deliberately hit another man with his car before getting out and repeatedly striking him with an axe.

A 59-year-old man was found with an axe wound to the head, and died at the scene.

Another man, aged 75, was arrested at the scene and an axe was seized. It's believed the two men were known to each other.

The 75-year-old Cabramatta man was taken to Fairfield police station before being taken to Liverpool Hospital for an unrelated medical condition.

After being released from hospital, he was taken to Liverpool police station and charged with murder.
