A man died after being electrocuted at a Moorebank factory on Monday afternoon. About 2pm, emergency services were called to the factory on Regent Crescent after reports of an electrocution.

Fire & Rescue officers rescued four men from the factory roof, while another man, 24, was stuck there, unable to be freed until the power was turned off. All four were examined at the scene by ambulance paramedics.

Three didn’t require further treatment, one was taken to Liverpool hospital in a stable condition to be treated for burns on his legs. Emergency services were able to reach the man, 24, once Endeavour Energy turned off power to the building but he was unable to be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene. A crime scene was established and WorkCover officers were helping with inquiries. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Firearms, drugs seized at home

Firearms, prohibited weapons, ammunition and drugs were seized at a home at CabramattaWestFairfield detectives searched the home on Birdwood Avenue about 1.30pm on Monday last week. They allegedly found three pen guns and a sawn-off shotgun, more than 200 rounds of ammunition, as well as cannabis, heroin and a high-powered laser pointer. A man, 36, was arrested at the home and taken to Liverpool hospital for treatment for a pre-existing medical condition. He’s been charged with eight offences, including having a prohibited drug, an unauthorised prohibited firearm and an unregistered prohibited firearm (x 3). He was also charged with supplying a commercial quantity of cannabis and having ammunition without a licence. Bail was refused and he was due in Liverpool court last Wednesday.

Bag-snatch at Cabramatta

He’s described as being of Asian appearance, about 40, 178 centimetres tall, with a solid build and short dark hair. He was last seen wearing an army-style camouflage singlet and dark grey shorts.

Carramar mail-theft charges

As a result of a January’s investigation into mail theft at Carramar, on February 6, Fairfield police arrested a woman, 23, and a man, 20, at Villawood. She was charged with larceny and a court warrant. Bail was refused and she’s due in Fairfield court on February 11. He was charged with larceny and having suspected stolen goods and is due in the same court on February 25.

Canley Vale crash road-rage

At 1pm last Saturday, there was an accident at the Bareena Street roundabout at CanleyVale near the rail overpass. A man left his car and approached another car, punching it. He returned to his car and got a steering-wheel lock and used it to hit the other car’s side mirror, then opened the door and hit the driver’s arm. Witnesses had stopped nearby. The culprit pulled the steering lock in two then threw both parts at the witnesses’ cars causing damage. The Lansvale man, 51, was arrested and charged with assault causing harm and damaging property (x 2).

He’s due in Fairfield court on March 11.

Heroin found at Canley Heights

At 2.45pm on Wednesday last week, Fairfield police stopped a car on Queen Street at CanleyHeights and found heroin. A Granville man, 38, was charged with having a prohibited drug and is due in Liverpool court on February 18.
