A man, 61, has been charged over the alleged indecent assault of a teenaged girl at a care facility in south-west Sydney. The facility cannot be identified for legal reasons, to protect the identity of the under-age victim.
Detectives from the child abuse and sex crimes squad began investigating following a report a teenaged girl, who has a cognitive impairment, had been indecently assaulted by a carer last year.
Following inquiries, a man, 61, was arrested at Liverpool police station at 10am this morning and charged with aggravated indecent assault of a victim with cognitive impairment.
Police say he decently assaulted the girl while working at the care facility in south-west Sydney last July.
He was refused bail and is due in Liverpool court later today.
His employment at the facility has been ended.
Investigations are continuing.
The child abuse and sex crimes squad comprises detectives specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse and extreme neglect.
