I welcome the premier’s announcement [see above] after personally lobbying the state government and transport minister Andrew Constance for over 10 months to date. The credit for this outcome should go to the residents who signed the petitions and also to MP Anoulack Chanthivong, MP Anne Stanley and local press for highlighting the problems since 2016. This result is due to the support of residents and commuters who signed the online petition – with currently over 7100 signatures – and five other petitions that were lodged in Parliament with over 2800 signatures. It’s a win for people power which put the pressure on the government. It's a positive outcome that the state government has finally heard the voices of residents and commuters from south-west Sydney after so long. The campaign continues as there’s more to be done, such as ensuring this will meet demand and getting a commitment for a car park at Leppington station.
