Fairfield Liverpool’s batting woes came back to haunt them on Saturday losing by three wickets to Blacktown at Rosedale Oval.

As temperatures nudged 40 degrees, the Lions won the toss and batted but couldn’t utilise the conditions with Param Uppal (50) the only batter to make a meaningful contribution as the home team were bowled out for 113.

Liam Hatcher (4-53) led the Lions revival and together with Uppal (2-17) had the visitors reeling at 5-32 and then 7-66.

However opener Jordan Gauci (36 not out) and Abdul Hameed Kherkhah (27 not out) combined for an unbroken stand of 48 to guide Blacktown home with 18 overs to spare.

  • This weekend the Lions play a two-day fixture against Campbelltown-Camden at Raby Oval.
