POLICE | Teenaged girl in hospital after car crashed at Smithfield

A girl, 17, was taken to hospital with minor injuries after a single-car crash at Smithfield on Friday night.

About 8.20pm, emergency services were called to the corner of Cumberland Highway and Percival Road after reports of a crash.

Police were told the female driver, 21, of a Mitsubishi Lancer – also carrying a girl, 17 – lost control and left the road before hitting a telegraph pole, severely damaging the car.

The driver was uninjured but was treated at the scene by ambulance paramedics for shock.

Her passenger, 17, was also treated at the scene before being taken to Liverpool hospital for treatment to a fractured nose, where she remains in a stable condition.

Cumberland police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
