A Bonnyrigg man, 46, has been charged after allegedly performing a sexual act while on a bus yesterday.

Yesterday afternoon, just after 2.30pm, a woman, 42, boarded a Liverpool-bound bus at Sadlier.

A few stops later, the man boarded and sat opposite her.

Police allege he touched himself inappropriately.

The woman got off at Liverpool and he allegedly followed and approached her.

Staff at Liverpool train station were alerted and notified police.

South/South-West Police Transport Command officers found the man nearby, searched him and allegedly found a knife.

They took him to Liverpool police station and charged him with having a knife, carrying out a sexual act in front of another person without consent and behaving offensively on public transport.

He was refused bail to be in Liverpool court today.
