Liverpool Animal Shelter's two cuties: Long-term shelter residents Lucky and Melody are eager to find their forever home.

Is a dog at the top of your checklist this Christmas?

Well it may be good timing because Lucky and Melody are Liverpool Animal Shelter’s two long-termers wishing for homes this Christmas.

The German shepherd mix Lucky is only thought to be about 12 months and it’s not hard to guess since he’s so full of life.

He is a highly intelligent dog who would enjoy a home with an active family. His two favourite activities are playing ball and splashing in the little shell pool.

If you want a dog to play fetch and to teach new things, Lucky would be perfect for you.

Lucky also bonds quickly with humans and is a fast, eager learner.

The shelter have suggested he’d suit a home with no other pets. He doesn’t get along with other small animals and is selective with other dogs.

Meanwhile, the Staffy mix Melody, 4, is also looking for her forever home.

She has a lovely white and brindle patch coat and although she’s a large size, she has a gentle personality and wants someone to love her.

She’d love being taken on a walk every now and then.

Melody loves being the centre of attention and would suit a home where she is the only dog.

Her adoption fee is $150, which is usually $368. The fee includes desexing, microchipping, vaccination, flea treatment, worming and a lifetime registration in NSW.
