UPDATE | Two charged after allegedly cutting off man’s finger with machete

Police have charged a man and a woman after allegedly cutting off a man’s finger with a machete at Carramar yesterday.

About 5.20am on Wednesday, December 5, police from Fairfield City Police Area Command attended a unit on River Avenue, after reports a man was attacked at his unit.

The man, 43, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for a severed finger, a severe injury to his left arm, and lacerations to his back, chest, face and legs.

The injured man was taken to Liverpool Hospital where he underwent surgery and remains in a serious but stable condition.

Following an investigation, about 8am yesterday, police arrested a woman, 40, at a home on James Street in Fairfield East.

She was taken to Fairfield Police Station and charged with hinder apprehension of person who committed serious offence.

The woman was granted conditional bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court on Tuesday January 8.

About 7.50am today on Thursday, December 6, a man, 33, was arrested on Mandarin Street, Fairfield.

He was taken to Fairfield Police Station and charged with cause wound with intent to murder.

He was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court today on Thursday December 6, where he was remanded in custody to reappear in the same court on Tuesday, February 20.
