Man’s finger lost in machete attack

A man is at Liverpool Hospital after he lost a finger when he was attacked with a machete at Carramar this morning.

Emergency services were called to a unit on River Avenue about 5.20am on Wednesday December 5, and found a man being treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

The man, 43, has told police he was attacked in his unit by a man armed with a machete.

The man has lost a finger in the assault, he has a severe injury to his left arm and extensive cuts to other parts of his body.

Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command have been told while the man’s injuries are serious, they are not believed to be life-threatening.

The man is in a serious but stable condition at Liverpool Hospital.

A crime scene was established and a search is underway for the man believed responsible.

It is believed the men are known to each other and this is being treated as a targeted attack.
