Western Sydney Wanderers W-League coach Dan Barrett expects their round one derby against Sydney FC to be a “classic game”.

The clash on Thursday, October 25 is one of four home games the team will play at Marconi Stadium.

“I’m expecting the match to be the first real derby between Sydney and Western Sydney if I’m honest,” Barrett said.

“I think it will be a classic game. I’ve been part of three or four derbies in the past but I’m expecting that this one being the season opener is going to be a really big game.”

Marconi will host the Wanderers’ games against Sydney FC, Brisbane Roar (November 4), Newcastle Jets (November 24) and Perth Glory (January 24).

Their other two home games will be double headers before A-League games at Spotless (December 7) and ANZ Stadium (January 1).

Barrett said they were aiming to be competitive against “everybody”.

“We go out this year to win games and that will be the mindset, particularly at home,” he said.
