A man has been charged following an alleged road rage incident and assault in Fairfield Heights yesterday.
About 8.30pm (Sunday, August 5), a 51-year-old man was attempting to park his car in the driveway of a home on Marlborough Street, when the driver of the car behind him, a 25-year-old man, began honking his horn.
Both drivers got out of their vehicles and there was a verbal altercation, before the younger man allegedly punched the older man in the face.
The injured man returned to his home and was allegedly followed and punched again by the 25-year-old man.
Two men, aged 26 and 33, who came to assist the injured man, were also allegedly assaulted.
Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command were contacted and attended the scene.
A 22-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the 25-year-old man’s vehicle, was also injured during the incident.
She was treated by paramedics at the scene, before being taken to Liverpool Hospital with minor injuries.
The 51-year-old man was treated by paramedics for injuries to his face; however, did not require further treatment.
Following inquiries, the 25-year-old man was arrested and taken to Fairfield Police Station. During a search of his vehicle police located cannabis.
The man was charged with five offences including assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault, entering inclosed land not prescribed premises without law, possessing a prohibited drug, and stalking and intimidation
He was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court today (Monday, August 6).
