Woman seriously injured in hit-and-run at Villawood

Police investigating a fail to stop pedestrian crash in Villawood, which has left a woman in critical condition, have released an updated description of the vehicle involved.

About 9.35pm (Thursday, May 17), a 20-year-old woman was crossing Woodville Road at the intersection of Tangerine Street, Villawood, when she was struck by a northbound vehicle described as a small black truck with a cage on the back.

The truck left the scene without stopping.

Investigations suggest the woman had a green pedestrian signal at the time.

The woman received serious head and leg injuries was taken to Liverpool Hospital where she is in a critical condition.

Police from Fairfield Police Area Command and the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct inquiries.

The northbound lanes of Woodville Road were closed at the intersection with Tangerine Street while the crime scene was examined. Inquiries are continuing.
