Call for participants: ArtCrew is calling for expressions of interest for this month's art and advocacy mentorship at the Powerhouse Youth Theatre in Fairfield. Applications close on Monday, February 19 and the program begins on Saturday, February 24. Art Crew is a youth-driven project between Youth Collective, Muralisto and SSI Arts and Culture with the objective to harness, magnify, and empower the voice of young people. Volunteers needed: Liverpool Parenting Centre, 10 Murphy Avenue, Liverpool is a free service that provides support for local families with children under five. New recruits are sought to care for children under six months of age while their parents attend a group activity. Sessions are two hours a week and training is provided. Care for nature: Fairfield Indigenous Flora Park will host a working bee and open day on Saturday, February 17 from 9am-noon. The park is cared for and maintained by the Fairfield Indigenous Flora Park Group with the support of Fairfield City Council. The group is made up of dedicated local volunteers, and new members are always welcome. The park can be accessed from Christie Street, Prairiewood. One of few bushland areas in Fairfield, it contains Cumberland Plain Woodland, which is an endangered ecological community under the  "Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995". Country show: The 114th Luddenham Show will be held on Saturday and Sunday, February 17 and 18 at the showground on Park Road. Both days are packed with entertainment and activities for all ages including woodchopping , rodeo events, sheep dog trials, demolion derby, a reptile show, the Miss Luddenham showgirl competition and fireworks. Chemical cleanout: Liverpool Council will hold a free Household Chemical CleanOut on Sunday, February 18. Council’s Operations Centre at 99 Rose Street, Liverpool is the drop-off point from 9am-3.30pm. Items that will be accepted include: solvents and household cleaners; fluorescent globes and tubes; car batteries; motor oil, fuels and fluids; paint and paint-related products; pesticides; gas bottles; fire extinguishers and more.
