Man arrested following armed robbery and car pursuit in Lurnea

A man allegedly involved in an armed robbery and car pursuit, at south-west Sydney overnight, is in custody.

About 2.30am on Wednesday January 10, a man attended a service station on Hoxton Park Road at Lurnea and was armed with a gun.

According to police, the man approached the night service window and allegedly threatened an employee.

The man fled into a waiting vehicle, being driven by another man.

Police officers from Liverpool Police established a crime scene. Soon after, police spotted a stolen Kia Cerato driving past them on Hoxton Park Road and pursued it.

The vehicle mounted the kerb on Powderdrill Road, before two men ran. But with the assistance of the Police Dog Unit, the man, 26, was arrested.

However, the second man was not located.

The man caught by police was taken to Liverpool Police Station before being transferred to Liverpool Hospital for treatment where he remains under police guard.
