Not even a partial ligament tear in her foot could stop Cecil Hills High School student Georgia Portelli continuing her golden run in 2017.
The 14-year-old, who wold gold at the Australian Little Athletics Championships earlier this year, threw 37.63m to win the under-14 girls javelin at the NSW All Schools Championships last month.
It is her second straight NSW title.
“I just tried to block out the pain,” Georgia said of her injury.
“I injured it a while ago and it hasn’t healed so I have had to manage my training.”
It hasn’t slowed down the Kemps Creek resident who last weekend won two gold and a bronze medal NSW State Relays as part of the St George District team.
Her next competition is the Australian All Schools Championships in December. She has a personal best of 43.32m in a discipline she only picked up two years ago.
