Woman dies weeks after crash

A woman who was sent to Liverpool Hospital has died several weeks after being critically injured in a car crash at Lucas Heights.

The woman, 63, was a front-seat passenger in a Nissan Navara utility which was involved in a crash with a red Holden Commodore sedan on New Illawarra Road, about 5pm on October 15.

The driver of the utility, a man, 55, was also critically injured and they were both taken to Liverpool Hospital suffering multiple injuries.

The driver of the sedan, an Engadine man, 18, was taken to St George Hospital with chest injuries.

Officers from Sutherland Local Area Command and the Crash Investigation Unit (CIU) attended the scene and initiated an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

CIU officers have now been advised the Sutherland woman had died in hospital last week. A report is being prepared for the information of the Coroner.

Inquiries into the cause of the crash are on-going, and CIU officers are keen to speak with anyone with information.
