A man remains at large after three gunpoint robberies across western Sydney overnight.

Police believe one man is responsible for the terrifying incidents at Bunnings Preston, Eastern Creek BP and Kemps Creek BP.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad have established Strike Force Adderstone to investigate the incidents.

Robbery and Serious Crime Squad Commander Mick Banfield said investigators are exploring the links between the incidents.

“Strike Force Adderstone detectives are appealing for information from the community, particularly anyone who may have been in or around the locations, and has not yet spoken to police,” Detective Banfield said.

“The description of the man and vehicle we have from witnesses to each incident is strikingly similar, and we’d like to hear from anyone who may have seen something suspicious.”

The suspect has been described as being of Caucasian appearance, with a medium build, and between 170cm and 180cm tall.

He left each scene in a silver car, possibly a Mitsubishi Lancer.

Detective Banfield said given the short timeframe between incidents in Eastern Creek and Kemps Creek at around 2.30am, the driver may have been speeding and drawn attention of other motorists.

“As you may be able to appreciate, we are only in the early stages of the investigation, so we have limited information at hand. Anyone who has information that may assist with our inquiries is urged to get in touch,” he said.

In the first incident, a man entered a store on Hoxton Park Road, Prestons, armed with a firearm just before 9pm on Wednesday, November 8.

The man reportedly fired shots and threatened staff, before fleeing the scene empty handed.

Police were called to a second incident about 2.30am on Thursday, November 9. They were told a man entered the service station on Wallgrove Grove, Eastern Creek, armed with a firearm.

The man reportedly threatened an employee before stealing cash and cigarettes, and fleeing the scene.

A short time later, police were called to a service station on Elizabeth Drive, Kemps Creek, following reports a man armed with a firearm entered the store and threatened staff.

Officers were told the man again stole cash and cigarettes before fleeing the scene.

No one was injured during the incidents.

Local police established crime scenes at each of the locations, which have been examined by specialist forensic officers.

Investigations are ongoing.

  • Police are urging anyone with information that may assist Strike Force Adderstone investigators to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
