The controversial No Left Turn at the southern end of Cronulla mall has created another traffic problem.
A report by Sutherland Shire Council staff said, “Concerns exist regarding northbound delays caused by increased turning movements in Cronulla Street”.
As a result, staff recommended the right turn bay be extended in length, “to encourage motorists to form two lanes [one going ahead, one turning right], thereby improving northbound traffic flow”.
In another proposal, two of the two-hour parking spaces in Cronulla Street, opposite the station and next to Monro Park, would be limited to 15 minutes parking.
“Council has received concerns regarding a lack of set down / pickup areas to serve the railway station,” the report said.
“Seven two-hour parking spaces exist opposite the railway station.
“Two of these spaces could be converted to 15 minute parking with minimal effect on parking availability.”
