Two people injured in light plane crash on Aerodrome Road on April 20


Update (Thursday 1.10pm):

Two people have been airlifted to hospital following a light plane crash in a Kirkham backyard on Thursday morning.

NSW Police media said police from Camden Local Area Command responded to reports of a crash close to Camden Airport about 11.20am.

On arrival they found a four seater aircraft had crash-landed in a paddock just off Aerodrome Road.

A nearby police helicopter on a training exercise landed soon after the plane crash.

The crew of the police helicopter were able to rescue the 24-year-old male pilot and his 23-year-old female passenger.

No one else was on the plane which was believed to be a Warrior Piper four seater passenger aircraft.

The injured pair have been taken to Liverpool Hospital where they are understood to be in a serious but stable condition.

Initial inquiries show the plane had only just taken off from Camden Airport when it developed engine trouble.

Inquiries into the cause of the crash will be conducted by Camden LAC.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau has been notified.

A light plane has crashed 1.5km from Camden Airport on Thursday morning, April 20.

Two people, a man and woman in their early 20s, who were on board the plane were injured in the crash.

The pair are being treated on scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

The man has sustained injuries to face, head and limbs.

The woman sustained an injury to an unknown limb.

A NSW Ambulance spokesperson could not confirm if the pair would be taken to hospital.

The plane crashed into a semi-rural area on Aerodrome Road, Camden.

Police and emergency services are at the scene.

Camden Local Area Command crime manager, Detective Inspector Jayne Doherty said the cause of the crash was unknown.

She could not confirm if the two people on board were local.

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) were alerted to the incident at 11.19am and responded within five to 10 minutes.

FRNSW personnel put a foam blanket over the plane.

Ambulance NSW responded at the same time as the FRNSW.
