Wattle Grove resident Maria Bestawros is one of 3700 women who will take part in one of the country’s most popular fundraising adventure treks on Friday.

The 30 kilometre Wild Women On Top Sydney Coastrek starts at Long Reef on the Northern Beaches and finishes at Balmoral Beach.

Over the past six years, more than $10 milion dollars has been raised for the Fred Hollows Foundation.

Ms Bestawros said she jumped at the opportunity to participate in a team with her work colleagues.

“There were several reasons for my decision,” she said. “Namely, supporting my work mates at CompliSpace, an enjoyable and exciting physical challenge and most importantly to support the Fred hollows Foundation.

“The Foundation does great work for an important cause and participating in the trek is a way that I can contribute.”

Now just days before the event, Ms Bestawros is calling for people donate to her team’s fund raising drive.

“Our team has been training very hard for what is set to be quite a challenging trek, all for a good cause,” she said.

“To put things into perspective, as little as $25 can restore sight to someone. It is something most of us take for granted every day. A small contribution can really go a long way.”
