Glenfield station upgrade finishes early

THE new Glenfield station and transport interchange is now open, four months ahead of schedule.

The opening marks a major milestone in the construction of the $2.1 billion South West Rail Link.

The upgraded station includes new lifts, a new aerial concourse, upgraded platforms and platform canopies.

A new ticket office, toilets, bus interchange, passenger drop off facilities and additional security cameras and lighting were also installed.

Minster for Transport, Gladys Berejiklian, said it was the first time lift access had been available at Glenfield station, improving accessibility for people with limited mobility, the elderly and families with prams.

"The progress at Glenfield is impressive, but it is only a part of the picture," she said.
