BMX racers to represent Australia at world championships

Liverpool City BMX club’s Blake Moore and Alex Cameron will head to Rotterdam next week to represent Australia at the 2014 UCI BMX World Championships.

As a small kid Blake Moore looked up to Alex Cameron as one of his BMX idols.

Next week, he will join his fellow Liverpool BMX member at the 2014 UCI BMX World Championships in Rotterdam.

Moore, 19, will make the step into the elite men's division after last year reaching the quarter-finals of the junior men's event.

"I looked up to Alex and my coach Luke Madill when I was growing up and to be racing these guys is surreal," said Moore, a three-time state champion.

"There were always the guys when I was 10 and 11 that were on top and now to be with them is great.

"I'm really looking forward to the World Champs.

"Being the young guy in my first team there isn't any expectations so I can just go hard every lap and try as ride as fast as I can."

For Cameron, 27, it will be World Championships No. 5.

The 2010 Australian Elite Men's champion hopes to improve on his best effort to date, which has been the quarter finals.

"Hopefully, I can go a couple of steps better," said Cameron, who won a recent state event at Liverpool.

"I feel like I'm more mature and have a better head on my shoulders compared to when I last went to Worlds in 2009."
