No need to 'investigate' council

AFTER some preliminary enquiries following a complaint about maladministration, the Division of Local Government has decided not to undertake a formal investigation into Liverpool Council.

Liverpool mayor Ned Mannoun and the councillors were advised of the division's decision in a letter last week.

The complaint, which argued that councillors and the mayor were wasting time and money by asking for unnecessary information and reports, was lodged by an unidentified party.

A division spokeswoman said that after some preliminary enquiries the division decided not to take any further action.
