Giants pulled back to earth

GREATER Western Sydney Giants came back to earth after their opening round victory against the Sydney Swans when defeated by seven points against St Kilda at Etihad Stadium, on Saturday. St Kilda kicked 15.5 (95) to the Giants' 13.10 (88).

The Giants blew a 20-point lead in the third quarter.

"We had an opportunity for the first part of the third quarter and didn't take it and St Kilda really took their opportunities," Greater Western Sydney Giants coach Leon Cameron said.

"They kicked four or five goals in seven or eight minutes in the third quarter."

Cameron said the team's attention now turns to their round three clash on Sunday against Melbourne Demons at Spotless Stadium.

In other club news, co-captain Phil Davis is on the mend after being released from hospital after suffering a kidney injury in the opening round against the Sydney Swans.

It is uncertain how long Davis will be sidelined.
