Western Sydney’s most popular sporting teams have united to call for an airport at Badgerys Creek to get the green light to help generate thousands of local jobs and allow more fans to support their team at home and away games.

“An airport at Badgerys Creek would link our fans directly to our away matches across Australia and internationally. The shorter journey from Western Sydney to an airport at Badgerys Creek will be a significant incentive.’’ —Lyall Gorman, executive chairman of the Western Sydney

“Air travel is an important part of a vibrant, modern economy. Airports support thousands of jobs and generate billions in economic activity." —Kevin Sheedy, director with the Greater Western Sydney GIANTS

“We’re proud to represent this vast area and the prospect of thousands of local jobs being created and the ability for our fans from both here and outside of Sydney to travel easily to games is exciting."

—Grant Mayer, chief executive of the Wests Tigers
