Police charge woman over reporting "fictitious attempted abduction"

Police have charged a woman after she claimed to be the victim of a fictitious attempted abduction in Liverpool last week.

The 29-year-old woman made a report to police saying she was the victim of an attempted abduction on Railway Street January 13.

The woman claimed she was standing near the intersection of Bigge Street, when a small red hatchback containing four men stopped in front of her.

She told police one of the men grabbed her and attempted to force her into the car.

Liverpool police investigated the incident and have charged a Rockdale woman today, January 22 with making a false report to police.

She was issued with a future court attendance notice and will appear at Liverpool Local Court on March 5.
