Your new role
Reporting to the Coordinator in Strategic Planning, this role focuses on ensuring the Council Planning Scheme is able to deliver its desired social, environmental and economic outcomes. Key responsibilities will include:

• Providing advise to the public, developers, and clients of the council regarding the provisions of the Planning Scheme, Council planning policies, strategies and planning procedures.
• Helping in processing the amendments of the planning scheme in relation to the legislative requirements
• Working with the Coordinator Strategic Planning in the preparation of completing the Strategic Planning strategies.
• Building good relationships with the Statutory Planning staff and having the ability to communicate well when seeking advise regarding any improvements to the Planning Scheme.

What you'll need to succeed

• Having a thorough understanding of planning issues associated with development in rural Victoria.
• Previous experience in preparing and implementing strategic plans and/or the assessment of complex planning permit applications.
• A recognised tertiary qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline
• The ability to achieve organisational objectives by working individually or as part of a team
• Having a good understanding of relevant legislation including the Planning and Environmental Act and Subdivision Act.
